Lisa Woods

As a child, my mother encouraged me to be a maker of many different things. One of my earliest memories is hearing her rings tap against the glasses as she was drying them. I was in my 20s when I came across an evening course on jewellery in London and I knew I had found my thing; the metal, fire, hammering, tools, stones, detail and ancient techniques, I loved it all. Lisa enjoys working with strong forms and shapes and is attracted to a variety of materials including rough diamonds, tourmaline, rubies and baroque pearls. She works intuitively to make fine, individual pieces that allow the natural forms of these materials to be revered in all their splendour. A highly skilled jeweller, Lisa is formally trained in both the technical and traditional elements of jewellery making. Her education includes a City and Guilds Advanced Craft Certificate in Diamond Mounting at Sir John Cass Faculty of Art, London followed by a Art and Design B. A. Hons Degree majoring in jewellery at Central St Martins, London.
